What is Base64 used for?

It turns any text or data into plain ASCII letters, digits and symbols, so it can travel safely inside emails, URLs, JSON and config files that cannot carry raw binary or special characters.

Does it handle emoji and accented letters?

Yes. This tool encodes text as UTF-8 first, so emoji, Urdu/Arabic script and accented characters round-trip exactly. Tools that skip the UTF-8 step corrupt exactly those characters.

What is the URL-safe alphabet?

Standard Base64 uses + and / and ends with = padding — characters that break inside a URL. The URL-safe option swaps them for - and _ and drops the padding, which is what tokens and URL parameters expect.

What if my Base64 is invalid?

The tool says so plainly instead of guessing: check for a missing or extra character, a space inside the string, or characters outside the Base64 alphabet.
