How to use it

Enter your figure. Type the pay you have and tell the tool what it represents — hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or annual.
Set your schedule. Your usual hours per week and days per week, so the conversion matches your real week.
Compare. The same pay expressed all five ways, side by side — gross figures, before tax.

Why convert pay between formats?

Pay gets quoted in whatever format suits the person offering it. Full-time job offers usually show an annual salary; part-time roles, gigs, and freelance contracts usually quote an hourly rate. That makes them hard to compare directly — a “$45,000 salary” and a “$22 an hour” offer could be nearly the same pay, or wildly different, depending on your hours.

Freelancers face the same question in reverse: when a client offers a monthly retainer, what hourly rate does that really mean for the hours you'll put in? Converting between formats puts every offer in the same language so you can compare apples to apples.

Keep in mind these are gross figures — what you actually take home depends on tax, deductions, and benefits. Use the conversions to compare offers, then look at the full package before deciding.
